と同時に (todoujini) - and at the same time

--- Notes ---
This grammar also gives the sense that X was not sure if action A had or
hadn't occurred/started/finished before the subsequent action B commenced.

--- Examples ---
彼は厳しいと同時に優しい。
He is at once stern and tender.

私たちがプラットホームに着くのと同時に電車が出てしまった。
The train left just as we arrived at the platform.

彼は科学者であると同時に音楽家出もある。
He is a scientist and musician.

彼らは笑うと同時に泣いた。
They laughed and cried at the same time.

駅に着くと同時に彼女は母に電話した。
The moment she arrived at the station, she phoned her mother.

生まれると同時に死は始まる。
As soon as man is born, he begins to die.

スポーツの逆説はスポーツが(人を)分けると同時に結びつけることだ。
The paradox of sport is that it bonds as it divides.

知識は力であるが、それは善を行う力であるのと同時に、それと全く同じ程度に悪を行う力でもある。
Knowledge is power, but it is power for evil just as much as for good.
